Keeping Your Pets Safe When Traveling by Car

Our pets are family and like all members of the family, staying safe while in the car is one of the most important things. Sadly, many pet owners forget the cold hard facts when it comes to car travel and what can happen to an unrestrained pet or travel crate during a car accident.

Here are some tips to make your lovely pet save while traveling.

Dog Seat Belt

Perhaps the best solution is a dog seat belt. Most cars weren’t designed with dogs in mind, so your regular seat belt won’t fit him. Buy the right size, and you can keep any sized dog safely strapped up in the back seats.

Boot Cages

For larger dogs, a boot cage is required. Cages can also help keep your pet safe in the boot area of an SUV or larger car. These crates or cages can provide comfort and security to your dog during travel.

Dog guards

Dog guards can be fitted to your car (or van) between the back of the seats and the boot area, to provide a restricted area of space for your dog to be contained within. In effect, this works in a similar manner to having a crate within your car, although it provides slightly less protection as your dog will not be protected from the impact on the side or rear windows.
